“The amateur concert given last night at Chickering Hall, by the pupils of Vilanova, drew together one of the most select and fashionable audiences of the season, all of whom were in full evening dress. The entertainment embraced a variety of vocal and instrumental music, which, of course, was rapturously received by the relatives and friends of the young amateurs, but which, when critically viewed, were entitled to high commendation. The performance showed great proficiency on the part of the pupils, and must have been as gratifying as it was creditable to their careful teacher.”
