“Mr. Schroeder has inaugurated at Lyric Hall a season of concerts, in which the most pleasing feature is the playing and singing of the pupils of his Conservatory of Music. Yesterday the programme commenced with a clever organ salutatory by Mr. Charles Schuyler, and then came the well known ‘Wedding March’ of Mendelssohn, played by a number of pupils. The other participants in the concert were the talented Hess children, Mrs. Mosler, Miss Conner (pupil) and Mrs. Johnson. The concert concluded with a very pretty little cantata by Schoeller, called ‘The Quarrel Among the Flowers.’ These Saturday matinées are calculated to benefit the pupils of the above excellent institution, as well as to entertain the public attracted to them.”
