Brief; “It was Mr. Norton’s first appearance after a six years’ tour around the world, and his reception was a hearty one. The part which he has in the drama (Zip) abounds in songs, dances and solos on musical instruments, and certainly Terpsichore has an industrious scion in Mr. Norton.”

Review: New York Clipper, 17 August 1872, 158.

“Mr. Norton, who re-appeared after many years absence from his native land, was most enthusiastically welcomed. His banjo solos and songs and dances drew forth much genuine applause, but when nearly done at the close of the drama he favored the audience with a jig, the applause became almost deafening, the hands, feet and vocal organs of the entire audience being actively employed to attest their approbation. Beyond a doubt he is one of the most skillful dancers in this country, and that his merit in that respect has been acknowledged in other lands is attested by the fact that he is the acknowledged champion of Australia.”
