“On Tuesday evening Steinway Hall had a new candidate for musical honors in the person of Mr. Bonawitz, a pianist of rare ability and of high European reputation. The programme was of a very interesting character, as may be seen from the following [see above]. Mr. Bonawitz fully realized the expectations formed of him, both as composer and pianist, and proved himself an adept in the most opposite styles of music. He seems to have caught the dreamy, poetic spirit of Chopin in particular, and renders the lovely music of the king of the pianoforte with expression and feeling.”
