“A soirée musicale was given, on Thursday, at Chickering Hall, by Miss Maria D. Moore. Miss Moore made her debut on that occasion, and each of her performances was repeated, in deference to the applause of the audience. The lady has a fine contralto voice, of especial volume and purity in the lower register, and her execution of the exacting recitative and aria from Donizetti’s ‘Torquato Tasso’ bore eloquent testimony to her thorough vocal discipline.”
