“Miss Amy de Brent, serio-comic and character vocalist, was the only fresh appearance at Tony Pastor’s last week. A petite figure of well rounded proportions, adorned with a blonde wig and clad in a costume of white material reaching to the knees only, exposing to gaze well proportioned limbs, encased at their pedal extremities in neat little boots of golden leather, was the tout ensemble presented to our gaze as she made her initial bow. She possesses a voice of much power and sweetness, which evinces considerable musical cultivation. Her performances were received with great favor, and repetitions were enthusiastically demanded and gracefully accorded. Her earliest performances were composed of serio-comic songs, and later in the evening she sang character songs which met with like favor. [continues with a description of the programme by other performers].”
