“The soirée musicale at Association Hall last evening brought out a numerous audience, notwithstanding the unpleasantness of the weather. The entertainment throughout, without being at all brilliant, was thoroughly good. Mr. Mora played two solos on the organ with his customary skill, and was very felicitous in his selection for an encore, while Mr. Daum received the plaudits of the audience for a faithful and effective performance of a selection from Beethoven. The honors of the evening, however, were carried off by Misses McGeachy and Toedt. The latter played two violin solos, and was recalled both times. Miss McGeachy was also recalled for every piece, although she failed to excite the personal enthusiasm which was shown toward Miss Toedt. This was due, perhaps, to the peculiar quality of her voice, which is somewhat unsympathetic. In certain parts, however, she sang with great power and feeling, and always with marked care and skill. It is but fair to say that she sang better on every re-appearance, and that her selections of ballads for the recalls were charmingly rendered.”
