Review: New York Herald, 07 November 1872, 7.

“There was a general disappointment last evening at the Academy of Music on account of the substitution of ‘Crispino’ for ‘La Nozze di Figaro,’ which was rendered necessary by the indisposition of Madame Lucca. But Miss Kellogg sang and acted the part of the cobbler’s wife charmingly, and soon put the audience in the best humor, while the sparkling music of the opera was given by the orchestra with uncommon force and expression. Ronconi, as the suddenly-elevated Crispino, was inimitably comic, and imparted great animation to the performance.”
