“For several weeks our up-town citizens have had an opportunity of hearing, at Terrace Garden, a good German opera troupe at prices which are refreshingly low. Madame Lichtmay, the prima donna, is well known as a careful and conscientious artiste, with a very large repertory. Habelmann and Pflueger are the tenors, and Lehmann the baritone. A few nights since, Miss Garfunkel made her debut as Azucena, in ‘Trovatore’—for these Germans frequently turn their attention to Verdi—and proved the possession of a good mezzo soprano voice and skilful [sic] training.”
