At 3pm, “grand opening by Grafulla’s Seventh Regiment Band of sixty pieces” and “promenade Concert.” Oration and barbecue follow. From 5pm to 7pm, “promenade concert.” Fireworks follow. From 8pm to 2am, “dancing and general enjoyment.”

“Nearly 2,000 persons visited Lion Park yesterday afternoon and evening, the occasion being the celebration of the third annual barbecue and promenade concert of the Matthew T. Brennan Central Association…The programme was as follows:—3 P.M. Grand opening by Grafulla’s Seventh Regiment band [sic] of sixty pieces; 3 to 4 P. M. promenade concert, with the following selections [lists program].
From five to seven o’clock the promenade concert was resumed, at eight o’clock the fireworks were set off, and from eight until three o’clock there was dancing and various other amusements, in which the vast number of persons of both sexes heartily participated.” Goes on, includes list of “prominent persons present,” but no further mention of music.
