“The burlesque of ‘Kenilworth’ was played last night at the Academy of Music by the Lydia Thompson troupe to an audience, that, in any theatre reasonably adapted to burlesque, might have appeared a good sized one. In so vast an auditorium as that of the Academy they made a rather poor show, and as the piece is not by any means the most brilliant of its class on the stage, the performance went off quite tamely.”
