Review: New York Herald, 28 June 1863, 8.

“Between forty and fifty thousand people visited the Park yesterday afternoon to attend the regular Saturday afternoon concerts. The drives were as usual thronged with elegant equipages, filled with still more elegantly dressed ladies. The selection of pieces that composed the programme was well selected and equally as well performed. The lawn was thrown open for public use, and was especially enjoyed by Young America, and as the weather was very fine the whole entertainment must have repaid the visitors for the trouble taken to reach the Park.”
