“Next Friday night [the Hampton Singers] will be at the Harlem Congregational Church, and they have engaged the Brooklyn Academy for the [illeg.] of December. Those interested in their work will be glad to hear that, generally speaking, it has been crowned with success. A large sum of money has been collected by these singers for the Hampton Institute, but for the last few weeks their entertainments—or rather the pecuniary results thereof—have been sensibly affected by the prevailing tightness of money.”
