“Tompkins Square was filled last evening with a mixed assemblage of idlers, music-lovers and small boys, who were diverted for two hours by the playing of the Central Park Band. The tactics employed by Park Commissioners in giving summer-night concerts at regular periods in the various parks and squares proved so successful last year that they will be repeated this season.”
