“On Friday evening we dropped in at Tony Pastor’s to observe the success of ‘The Ladies’ Invitation Night.’ Mr. Pastor, in a spirit of generous liberality, has set apart the Friday evening of each week for a special purpose. On those occasions each one of his male patrons has the privilege of bringing with him one lady, for whose admission no charge is made—in short, the two persons are admitted for the price usually charged for one ticket, and it is presumed that the ladies extend an invitation to their escort to take them there. We found the auditorium crowded in every part…The Weston Sisters, attired in elegant lavender suits and blonde wigs, gave satisfaction in their double songs-and-dances.
