“Miss Lizzie Kelsey and Walters and Morton were the fresh additions to the company at the Metropolitan Theatre on Dec. 8. Miss Kelsey at once won the favor of the audiences by her serio-comic songs, and was compelled to respond to several encores. Walters and Morton, who hold a foremost rank among song-and-dance men, made a hit. We have so recently reviewed their performances that nothing now need be said, further than that they were fully up to their usual standard of excellence. An Irish dramatic sketch, fresh from the pen of Sam Rickey, entitled ‘Misfortune, or Melervey’s [sic] Politics,’ kept the audience in an almost constant state of laughter… The other acts upon the bill included John Allen’s character songs; Prof. O’Reardon’s performances upon the Tumbleronicon; ‘My Father Sould Charcoal,’ by Johnny Queen…” No further mention of music.
