Sanford and Wilson commenced an engagement at the Metropolitan Theatre on Dec. 29, performing their specialty called ‘The Musical Mokes.’ They gave solos and duets upon the violin and banjo, subsequently performing upon toy instruments of the same description. One of them manipulated the bones in a dexterous manner, gave imitations upon the violin, and both performed a double song-and-dance. Their performances have more than average merit, and they apparently possess an excellent knowledge of music. The serio-comic vocalism of Jennie Hughes, who also appeared upon the above date, was favorably received… The Schrotter Sisters and Katie Wilson were advantageously seen in an Irish festive dance… Walters and Morton fully sustained their excellent reputation as song-and-dance performers… The attendance was large all week.” Full cast list included. In a separate paragraph on the same page, a note about how many “floral tributes” Jennie Hughes received “upon the occasion of her first appearance at the Metropolitan Theatre.”
