“The Sunday concert at the Grand Opera-house, yesterday, was enjoyed by an immense audience. A large and proficient orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Carlberg, replaced Mr. Gilmore’s band, and did a quantity of very good work, and the soloists, as heretofore, were Mme. Di Murska and Mr. Wieniawski. Although the lady was clearly fatigued, she sang with marvelous fluency an air from Hérold’s ‘Pré aux Clercs,’ with a violin accompaniment supplied by Mr. Wieniawski, this being the vocal novelty of the evening. Although it is not as strictly in the bravura style as Mme. Di Murska’s talent would warrant, the aria is suffieicntly florid to be effective, and its repetition was insisted upon. Mr. Wieniawski’s most important task was a recital of his second concerto, a thoroughly interesting and scholarly composition, than which no more elegant or sympathetic delivery than that of the author could be hoped for. Both Mr. Wieniawski and Mme. Di Murska contributed to the concert exactly twice the number of pieces set down to them.”

“The concert at the Grand Opera House last night was another brilliant success. Di Murska sang with her usual brilliancy and skill and with Wieniawski fairly shared the honors of the evening. A good orchestra was in attendance, and the entire concert gave decided satisfaction to the large audience present.”
