Description of the renovation. “The Old Bowery Theatre, which of late years has been permitted to moulder, as it were, in its oppressive atmosphere, the damp and sweat of dilapidated walls, paper, and paint. . . . All this, however, we are glad to state, has now been changed. We visited the place on Friday night last, and as we entered the building, could not help remarking what a change had come over the place. . . .

Now the building looks as good as new. . . . Mr. Fox has indeed wrought a wonderful change in the appearance of this establishment. The carving and gilding looks beautiful in the gas light. All the drapery of the private boxes and damask coverings on the seats, are new and elegant. The re-opening of this establishment, under Mr. Fox’s management, has thus far been welcomed by large gatherings. Miss Fanny Herring seems to be the particular star with the ‘boys.’”
