“Mr. Adolph Neuendorf  has opened a very promising season of summer entertainments at Terrace Garden, and the performance of last evening, consisting of concert, comedy and opera, was admirably adapted to the wants of a heat-stricken public in the dog days. The concert part of the programme was admirable, although the orchestra was not large in numbers. The ‘Freischütz’ overture, a Strauss waltz, the immortal quartet from ‘Rigoletto,’ and an overture by Kalliwoda, were the attractive features in this part of the entertainment. A comedy in one act, ‘Du bist blass, Louise,’ a very funny German sketch, which might be better termed a peep into a lady’s boudoir, in which Mlle. Ungar and Heynold and Messrs. Walkenstein and Marten took part, and which excited roars of laughter, followed the first part of the concert, and was succeeded by one of those champagne like lyric truffles under the name of ‘Dorothea’ which can only be attributed to Offenbach. Terrace Garden on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings is one of the most enjoyable places in the city to spend an hour or two, as in Vienna, Berlin or Leipsic.”
