“For several weeks Madame Di Murska has been suffering from a sore throat, and every time she appeared in public of late, either at the Academy of Music, at the Grand Opera House, or in Brooklyn, it has been in direct opposition to the advice of her physician. Last night she succumbed. Her inability to sing necessitated the closing of the doors, for the present troupe without Di Murska is helpless. A large number of persons arrived at the Academy about 8 o’clock, only to be met by a printed physician’s certificate, and to retire disappointed. It is, however, announced that Di Murska will sing on Wednesday night…”
