Article: New York Clipper, 29 August 1863, 158.

Not part of “Dramatic and Other Sketches.”  Includes drawing of Eph Horn.  Born in Philadelphia, no date given.  AKA Uncle Eph.  “In 1842 he joined the old Virginia Serenaders, one of the first minstrel organizations, and as ‘Brudder Bones’ was one of the brightest stars in the burnt cork circle. . . . He finally returned to this city, and became a member of Wood’s Minstrels, and was the reigning favorite for many years.  During the season of 1861 he was with the Bryant Bros. . . . During the season of 1862 he was a member of Wood’s Minstrels, and remained there until June of the present year, when, in conjunction with W. Newcomb, he organized a band of minstrels, and started as co-manager on a traveling tour.  In August (two months afterwards) he had received his fill of managing, left the concern, and returned to New York and joined Wood’s Minstrels, where he is at the present time.”
