In September, Mr. Bandmann, in the role of Narcissus, whom he has never played here either in German or English, will start at Niblo’s Theater, and will undoubtedly gain new triumphs. He will alternate with Forest during the brief, only month-long season, and for that reason, unfortunately, will have little opportunity to appear in Shakespearean characters, of which he rehearsed Hamlet and Iago in addition to Shylock. In addition to Narcissus, the ingenious artist intends to transplant some other German pieces to the English stage in a most expedient manner.

“Mr. Bandmann, who, as we have already announced, will be playing with Forrest at Niblo’s Theater in September, will open the action on August 29th in the role of Shylock, and on the first of September will play Narcissus there for the first time in English. Apart from these two characters, he will also portray Hamlet, a role he has hitherto performed only in the German version, and in which he, as an almost unknown actor, of whom the public had little expectation, suddenly manifested himself as a rare artistic genius.”

Article on Herr Bandmann. “Mr. Bandmann, as we mentioned earlier, will be performing again for the first time in his splendid role of ‘Shylock’ at Niblo’s Theater next Saturday, and during the month of September, alternating with Forrest, playing at the aforementioned theater. The ingenious young artist has his summer vacancy for rehearsing some new roles, with which he will gradually seduce the audience.”
