Review: New York Clipper, 30 January 1875, 350.

“…Antonio Bini and Edward Freschini proved themselves musicians of ability. They first performed a duet upon guitars, one being much smaller than the other, and about the size of an ordinary violin. Being recalled, they gave a duet upon banjos, the music being difficult and their manipulation excellent. In response to a second recall, one of them performed an air upon a new instrument called the piccolo guitar, which was about the size of a toy violin, and the other performed an accompaniment upon the banjo. Great skill and care are required to manipulate so small an instrument; but it was successfully accomplished, and the music was deliciously soft and pleasing…Attendance large.”
