“’Ages Ago,’ the sparkling comic operetta which has been twice performed at the Union League Theatre with great acceptance, reached its acme of success last night at the Bryant Opera House, where it was given for the benefit of the Samaritan Home. The commodious and bright little theatre was filled in every part by an audience composed of our foremost literary, musical and professional people, who testified their delight by incessant rounds of applause. The sweet and plaintive music was rendered with a precision, force and beauty that we have seldom seen surpassed on the regular stage, and the acting—which is rarely well done by singers—was quite on a level with the music. It was, we believe, the general opinion that no amateur performance ever presented in this city compared with this for completeness and effect. We hope the season is not too late to admit of another repetition of it for some other excellent charity.”
