“A series of three [four] evening performances and one matinée recital of opera bouffe by a small German company, was yesterday commenced at the Park Theatre. The performers are headed by a Miss Lina Wassmann, who may have delighted Philadelphia, but does not appear likely to fascinate New-York. Miss Wassmann and her associates sang last night Suppé’s pretty opera, ‘Die Schöne Galathea,’ and Offenbach’s ‘Mariage aux Lanternes’ but the representation afforded too frequent evidence of slight preparation to be satisfactory.”

“The German Opera-bouffe Company, with Miss Lina Wassman, met with but moderate success in their presentation of ‘La Belle Galatea’ and ‘Le Marriage aux Lanternes,’ at the Park Theatre, during the past week. The presence of this company in the city was scarcely known, and no doubt one cause of the poor attendance may be attributed to a want of sufficient announcement.”
