Review: New York Herald, 28 April 1874, 9.

“…there was also given the musical extravaganza of ‘Fra Diavolo.’ Of the many burlesques the Worrell Sisters perform perhaps this is one of their best. Sophie’s Fra Diavolo, Irene’s Zerlina, and Jennie’s Lady Allcash are very fair representations, but there appears a seeming indifference in their acting always which they might endeavor to correct. Mr. J. McCloskey was the Beppo, and he was, indeed, a model villain, while the Giacomo of Mr. Tilla was as acceptable a ruffian as a sweet voice could make him. The bill was well received by a large audience.”

“…The performance of ‘Fra Diavolo,’ presented the the Worrell girls in pretty garments and in a congenial atmosphere of levity and pranksome folly. Ethiopian and other farce, together with song, dance and gymnastic feats, made up a rattling medley, and entertained a light-minded throng.”
