Review: New York Clipper, 19 June 1875, 94.

“Robinson’s English Opera-Bouffe Company continues the attraction at Robinson Hall, the English version of ‘Giroflé-Girofla’ (now in the fifth week of its representation) having, by the acceptable rendition of this work by the company, who have considerably improved since the first week of its presentation, in both their acting and vocal interpretations, proved a successful card. The audiences have perceptibly increased during the past week—a fact due in part to the introduction of a cancan with a decidedly Parisian tone, and to the really creditable improvement of the company, which has been increased by the addition of several members of the former Soldene troupe, and the substitution of E. O. Jepson for Welsh Edwards in the character of Mourzouk. The light, sparkling entertainment offered, the attractive stage-setting, and comfortable temperature of the house have made the enterprise a success.”
