Review: New York Clipper, 26 June 1875, 102.

“On Friday evening D. H. Harkins received a benefit, when the attractions were increased by the performances of the Elfin Opera Troupe, the members of which proved to be our old friends the Madrigal Boys. They, however, appeared in a new entertainment, consisting of many of the arias, concerted pieces and choruses of the operas of ‘The Bohemian Girl’ and ‘Trovatore,’ which were sung in the English language. Their efforts were highly creditable and received fervid applause, while several of the most popular numbers were redemanded, which the artists cheerfully conceded.”
