“The first season of English opera with Miss Kellogg as the leading prima donna has proved so very successful that it is more than probable that our representative American vocalist will continue to tread the same path for some years to come. The present season will be continued up to the middle of May. A brief series of operas is announced for next week in Brooklyn…In England the death of Parepa Rosa seems to have put a sudden stop to all attempts at English opera; but in this country that graceful and popular amusement is rapidly growing in favor, thanks to the talent of Miss Kellogg, Mrs. Vanzandt, the Seguins and their associates; and, we may add, to the business tact and experience of the directors of the troupe, Mr. C. D. Hess and Mr. Maurice Grau.”

“Mme. Brignoli has been added to the Kellogg English Opera Company as a special attraction. On Friday evening the opera of ‘Fra Diavolo’ was given by this company, and, owing to the severe illness of Miss Kellogg, Mlle. Pauline Canissa was called upon at a few hours’ notice to undertake the rôle of Zerlina in English. She complied and achieved an artistic success of the most unequivocal kind.”
