“At 5, Pech, Mrs. Gulager, Leggat, & Centemeri appeared, with Richter, the pianist, son of a mighty contrapuntalist of Leipzig (?) & all the solo work of the Beethoven Mass & of Spring was read over, very pleasantly. Miss Antoinette Sterling made default, so Ellie took the alto part in the Mass, & did it excellently well. Almost wish I had let her take it at the concert.”
