“Annual Philharmonic meeting, 2 p.m. at Germania Assembly Rooms, 293 Bowery, a kind of little theatre & concert room combined. I bossed the concilium & a long session it was—two hours & a half. Election of officers. I was re-elected president (68 votes out of 69) with pleasant indications of cordiality & kind feeling from my constituents. Other officers mostly re-elected. Matzka declined, which is a pity, & Ureli Corelli Hill was put in his place as director.”
