“Some forty people came in after tea, a few invited, but mostly fortuitous. There were [names of guests] & so forth. Herr Dionys Pruckner did some brilliant pianizing, & Sarasate (violin) played two showy compilations from Faust (Gounod’s Faust) & from Masaniello, Herr Dionys Pruckner accompanying. Miss Clara Louise Kellogg also here, with her mamma, & that very jolly buxom young lady sang one or two things very amiably & brilliantly. She looks better off stage than on it. Sarasate is very strong & magnetic.”
