“C. M. A. rehearsal 3 ½ p.m. was magnificent—& the house was ‘very fine’ & quite appreciative. Ellie in the chorus—Johny & his cello in the orchestra. Temple & Louis in the audience, rapturous over Lurline & parts of the Requiem.

But I am riled—disgusted—bored. Here has Pech been neglecting to give Mrs. Gulager a letter of mine dated Jan. 7th until this morning. The effect of this [lackness?] is to throw another heavy charge upon our overburdened treasury.”
