“Friday. I presided over the annual Philharmonic meeting. About 80 present, & a long session. Was unanimously re-elected president. Close vote on one or two other offices. Bernstein & Reiff are new directors…”
“Called on this afternoon by Boehm & George F. Bristow, committee from the Philharmonic, who presented me with a certificate, or rather a copy of a resolution, conferring on me an honorary membership, most ornamentally engrossed & handsomely framed. They said a great many civil things about the favor with which I am regarded by the society. It’s a case of manifest over-estimation. But I am glad they like me. My relations with all these gentlemen are very pleasant.”
