“Philharmonic directors in session here nearly three hours this afternoon. We adopted a promising programme. Though there is too much Liszt, there are the 7th & 5th symphonies, the Zauberflöte overture, & a symphony of Haydn’s. Prices of reserved seats & upset prices of boxes were raised, against my judgment, but the rest seemed of one mind about it. The illustrious Rubenstein will probably assist at the first concert.”
