“From 2 to nearly 5 at Arion Club, St. Mark’s Place, where met the Philharmonic board. We set about purging the orchestra of inefficient, drunken, & superannuated members, but eliminated only a few of them. Everybody declared it was too bad that nobody was willing to move any additional decapitations. We did a deal of business with not more than the inevitable average amount of clack. Herr ___ was rather tipsy, but good humored.”
