“Very nice C. M. A. rehearsal 3 p.m. (orchestral)…Very full house. Haydn’s genial & lovely symphony (played last year)—Niedermeyer’s Mass & Engendi (Christus am Oelberge). The Mass is certainly a great work. It not only stands the test of better acquaintance, but grows under it. As to the final chorus of ‘Engendi,’ no words can do it justice. Everything went smoothly & well this afternoon.”
