“Last night with Ellie to Booth’s to see the ‘Grand Shakesperian Revival’ of Henry 5, which still draws crowded houses. It is mainly a costume performance, and the costumes & tableaux are carefully studied from miniatures in Froissart and Monstrelet. But it was fairly acted. Rignold as King Harry was more than tolerable, Fluelland & Ancient Pistol excellent, and the Princess very pretty, naïve, and taking. It was the largest & most showy stage pageant I ever saw—especially King Harry’s triumphant entry into London.”
