“…Senor Suarez, who made his American debut, performed upon an instrument called ‘The Melovitro,’ similar to the ‘Tumbleronicon,’ save that, instead of striking the glasses, he produced soft musical sounds by rubbing his fingers (which had been previously moistened with water) around their upper rims. His selections of music were hardly suitable to please a miscellaneous audience…Mlle. Albertazzi, who made her first appearance in this city, proved to be an accomplished vocalist, possessing a soprano voice of much sweetness and purity of tone, great power, and thoroughly under control. She has a comely appearance, and dresses with much taste. The applause was lavish, and she was several times recalled…Attendance good.”
