“The famous trio, Birch, Backus and Wambold, gave a very pleasing burnt-cork entertainment last evening, and were assisted by a number of clever artists. In the first part Wambold was encored in the ballad ‘Little Robin, Tell Kitty I’m Coming,’ and Mr. Birch made a decided sensation with ‘Solid Dishes to the Front.’ After five or six different acts of an amusing nature the performance concluded with ‘Ristori’s Medea,’ in which the great actress was portrayed by Ricardo, and Add Ryman appeared as Jason, with Backus and Birch as First and Second Sentinels. If laughter can be set down as a sign of approbation the burlesque made a decided hit, as the audience laughed themselves into fits.”
