“The outdoor demonstration over Miss Cushman on the last night of her engagement will be very imposing. Downing’s entire Ninth Regiment Band will head the escort in full uniform, and numbering sixty-five men. The Arcadian Club and a German singing society will parade, bearing flambeaux, and there will be a display of fireworks along the whole route of the novel procession. In the neighborhood of Booth’s the private residences will display the national standard, and the theatre itself will be decorated with colors of all nations in an artistic manner, and the Twenty-third street entrance transformed into a bower of evergreens. The serenade will be by the full Ninth Regiment Band, string and brass.”

Long review; quotes speeches. “…After the close of celebrations at the theater, Fräulein Chushman was escorted by the Arcadian Club to the Fifth Avenue Hotel. Throughout the triumphant carriage ride she was greeted by enthusiastic crowds in every street. At the hotel, she was escorted by a number of distinguished people into the parlor, where she was serenaded by the Arcadian Club.”
