“The San Francisco Minstrels are doing well at their new opera-house, and the clever trio—Messrs. Birch, Backus, and Wambold—who control the warblings and festivities of the troupe strive to render the same innocent and amusing. The ballad singing in the parlor scene is very fine, especially that of Messrs. Wambold and Rudolph, and in the olio the lively sallies of Mr. Birch and the funny caricatures of Mr. Backus elicit great laughter and applause. The terpsichorean and instrumental performances following are suitably supplemented by an extravagant comedietta, entitled ‘’Trials,’ in which the entire company appear.”
