“…Wambold’s tenor voice, another great attraction of the San Fraqncisco Minstrels, was heard last week in a new ballad of the old school, “You Never Miss the Water till the Well Runs Dry, a simple composition, set to effective verses, which embody an excellent, if somewhat hackneyed, moral. As a musical composition, of course, this ballad is scarcely a subject for criticism, but Wambold imparts to it a characteristic coloring and pathos which make it very acceptable….”
