Mr. McDonald gives presents to Seymour and Bryant. “On the 11th inst. we were shown one of the handsomest presents ever made to a public performer, consisting of a beautiful banjo made by Mr. H.C. Dobson of this city, and of the well-known Dobson Bros. It was gotten up by the order of Mr. Wm. T. McDonald, the well-known sporting gentleman of Baltimore, and owner of Flora Temple. The instrument cost $150, and is intended as a present to Mr. Nelse Seymour, of Wood’s minstrels, one of the best end-men in the profession. . . . On the handle is a silver plate with the following inscription:—‘Presented to T. Nelson Sanderson by his friend Wm. T. McDonald, July, 1863.’ Taken altogether, for beauty of finish and power of tone, it is the finest instrument we ever saw, and one of which Nelse may well feel proud. Mr. Dobson is also making a tambourine of like beauty and finish, for Mr. Dan Bryant, we are informed, to be presented to that artist by Mr. McDonald.”
