Announcement: New York Clipper, 01 August 1863, 123.
“The Hudson river panorama continues as an attractive feature.  Mr. A.J. Talbott, the well-known ‘stump speechifier,’ has been engaged by Manager Wood, and goes on the end this week in place of Nelse Seymour, who is obliged to retire for a short time, owing to indisposition.”

COMMENT: Nelse Seymour leaves Wood’s and joins Bryant’s Minstrels at this time.

“THIS BEING THE BEST VENTILATED HALL IN THE CITY, we find no necessity for closing during the warm season.  FIFTH WEEK OF THE PANORMA.  First appearance of the Great Stump Orator, A.J. TALBOT.  Second week since his return from Europe of the Popular Balladist, DAVID S. WAMBOLD.  Second week of the universal Favorite and Original ‘Happy Uncle Tom,’ FRANK BROWER.”

Review: New York Clipper, 08 August 1863, 131.
“Being a cool and well-ventilated hall, it is not surprising that Mr. Wood’s minstrel establishment continues to meet with such large patronage during the dog days.  Last week the business was splendid, on some evenings seats having been placed outside of the hall, alongside of the windows, in the avenues that run along the building.  This is something extraordinary.  Mr. A.J. Talbot, the new end man, made his first appearance on the 27th ult.  Being new to a metropolitan audience, he exhibited a little nervousness, but this will wear off as he becomes better acquainted with our people.”
