Mass Meeting of the Union State Central Committee

“Severe as was the storm of last evening it did not prevent a large and enthusiastic gathering at Cooper Institute—composed in no small part of ladies—who assembled at the call of the Union State Central Committee, to rejoice at the splendid victories achieved over Copperheadism in Ohio and Pennsylvania, and to declare their determination that the coming elections should result in a like glorious and emphatic verdict on the part of the Empire State.

The platform was decorated handsomely with the National colors—patriotic sentiments being interspersed—and an excellent band entertained the audience, who crowded the Hall long previous to the hour named for opening proceedings.”
