“At Wood’s Minstrel Hall two new faces were added to the company last week, in the persons of a piccolo player, and Mr. Solomons, the clarionet [sic] player, both of whom are very clever instrumentalists.  The latter appeared every evening and gave a clarionet solo, which proved him to be a master of this instrument.  He is a valuable acquisition to the company. . . . We were present on the evening of the 16th inst., and heard Mr. C. Henry sing the ballad of ‘Kathleen Mavourneen,’ which was rendered in capital style.  It’s a beautiful thing when well done, and of all the ballads that Mr. Henry sings this is one of the best.  Wambold’s ‘Annie Lisle’ and ‘Brother’s Fainting at the Door,’ were also exceedingly well given.”
