“Miss Kate Fisher enters upon the third week of her extraordinarily successful engagement at the New Bowery Theatre this evening, Jan 18th. The house during the past week was filled nightly, and on Friday evening, Jan. 15th, on the occasion of Miss Fisher’s benefit, the theatre was crowded in every part, and Kate had an ovation, cheers and bouquets being showered at her…Miss Fisher was called out, and made a few well timed and pertinent remarks. Owing to the injury sustained by the black horse on the first week of Miss Fisher’s engagement, another animal was substituted a portion of last week to do the ‘fiery and untamed steed’ business, but ‘White Surrey’ was not untamed enough, and therefore the horse business was not sufficiently spirited; the black recovered, however, and appeared at the close of the week in his proper form, and everything was given in orthodox style again.”
