Announcement: New-Yorker Staats-Zeitung und Herold, 15 January 1864, 8.

“…The Fair will be continued on Saturday from noon on, Sunday from 10 o’clock in the morning, and will conclude on Monday, the 18th of January, with a raffle of items on exhibit. All those who wish to see a German Hospital realized, are urged to attend this Fair if at all possible. Every donation will be received with thanks from the undersigned; tickets are 25¢.”

Presumably these $.25 tickets are for the raffle, since the announcement states entrace fees elsewhere.

The list of hospital officers follows: president, two vice presidents, treasurer, sec’y and several executive committee members.

Announcement: New-Yorker Staats-Zeitung und Herold, 16 January 1864, 8.

“This evening the singing club, ‘Teutonia,’ will enliven and ennoble the Fair with a concert. We don’t doubt that this will draw a big crowd of new visitors. The exposition will be even more glorified by the lighting of the gas lanterns.”

Review: New-Yorker Staats-Zeitung und Herold, 20 January 1864.

“The planned raffle drawing to benefit the German Hospital could not begin yesterday because of unforeseen circumstances.  Bad weather prevented visitors from attending the fair; those who did attend were treated to pleasant entertainment by the little violin virtuoso, Heinrich Heine.”
